Newport, the Heart of the Greenway, nestles on the shore of Clew Bay which is famous for its 365 Islands and has the Brown Oak River flowing through its centre and is a pleasant seaside resort and part of an attractive and unspoiled coastline, only 10mins drive from Westport. A beautiful feature of the town is its seven arch viaduct, built in 1892 to carry the Westport to Achill railway line.
